About me
My name is Nico. I've been passionate about building excellent software for many years. In fact, I started writing code at age 12, in the '90s, and not a year has passed without me writing code in some form or another.
A few years ago, I took a break from software companies and worked in a Landscaping business. I got first hand experience of waking up early, starting the crew at the crack of dawn, coordinating the work, meeting customers, dealing with emergencies, coming home late, and doing a few hours of admin before starting again. There has to be a better way.
I ended up working in the software industry again. However, the desire to help landscapers never left me. So here I am, trying to build excellent software to help excellent landscapers do their best work.
How Groundskeeper started
Before I worked in landscaping, I built a small app to track fall cleanup jobs for one crew. It worked well for a season, but it was not built to scale.
After seeing the day-to-day chaos in a real landscaping business, I rebuilt it from scratch to support multiple businesses, crews, properties, and seasons.
I also saw that many tools were either overpriced or difficult to use. Groundskeeper exists to be practical, clear, and genuinely helpful for busy landscapers.
